Laura Foley is a Senior Lecturer in Mental Health at Middlesex University and currently works in Department of Mental Health & Social Work within the School of Health and Education.

Laura is originally from Trinidad and Tobago. Laura is the programme lead for mental health nursing and a senior lecturer at Middlesex University in London.

Laura is particularly interested in Transcultural mental health, and in understanding how cultural factors influence and affect the cause, diagnosis, and treatment of mental illness to the individual, family and community.

Laura’s research stems from a desire to diminish inequalities in access, care and treatment for mental health problems experienced by disadvantaged communities.

Laura absolutely believes that an appreciation of cultural diversity goes hand-in-hand with a just and equitable society, and that we have more in common that we do not.
